Hello Reader,
I displayed my art at a design fair to share my pictures to a broader audience. That was my intention. But unfortunately, it all ended in disaster.
The exhibitors were mostly showing jewellery. I was the only one who displayed pictures, which wasn't a disaster per se. The catastrophe happened later.
So, I was at the wrong fair. The audience didn't have the patience to look at my images. They were more interested in small things. If I had known that, I wouldn't have exhibited there. The fair advertises itself as a design fair. Well, a design fair can mean anything.
When outdoors, nature has to be kind to you, especially when displaying artwork. Which it wasn't. The wind was unpredictable. And the wind was responsible for destroying half of my pictures. A gust of wind threw all my images to the ground. The ground consists of coarse gravel. As a result, the sharp stones scratched the images' surface.
A total disaster! It caused damage worth 1'000 Euros.
Being at the wrong fair wouldn't have been so bad. If only it had been windless, there wouldn't be any damage. I learned my lesson the hard way!
If I display my artwork outdoors, I will show Fine Art paper prints in poster pockets. Not Aluminium Dibond! All it needs is wind to throw the medium to the ground. And you get damage.
With paper prints in poster pockets, not much can happen. They are safe from scratches.
With paper, though, you have to be careful with water. As long as the poster pockets are waterproof, it should be fine.
I learned an expensive lesson that day. And I hope this will never happen again.
Stay creative,
Ars
